About Us

Erin Harrington (Team Leader)

Erin Harrington is a senior at The College of New Jersey. After graduation she is looking to continue her education by pursing a masters degree. She is the current Vice President of TCNJ's chapter of the American Water Works Association. She is also a member of TCNJ's ITE, ASCE, and SWE clubs. She hails from the mean streets of Staten Island, NY.

Erin will evaluate potential solutions in the Cedar Meadow area of the camp.  She hopes to solve these issues to not only improve drainage, but the overall safety of camp residents as well.

Henry Bader

Henry Bader is a senior at The College of New Jersey, looking to further his education in the field of water resources engineering. He is the current President of TCNJ Humanitarian Engineering, Vice President of TCNJ Men's Club Volleyball, and TCNJ Orientation Leader. Henry is also a member of TCNJ’s ASCE and ASME organizations. Henry spent his summer as a Dam Safety Intern at the NJ Department of Environmental Protection while participating in TCNJ's MUSE Research program with Dr. Michael Horst.

Henry will focus on redesigning the roads around the camp to make them more functional for years to come.

Matthew Heller

Matthew Heller is a senior at The College of New Jersey, looking to further his education in the field of structural engineering. He is the current treasurer of TCNJ’s chapter of  American Water Works Association. Matthew is also a member of TCNJ’s ASCE and ASME organizations.

​

Matthew will analyze the area surrounding the recently built Recreation Center.  Using engineering software and techniques, he will create a design to alleviate the current flooding.

Brian Rennie

Brian is a senior Civil Engineering major from Bloomfield, NJ. Brian is the President of TCNJ's chapter of the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society, the Treasurer of the TCNJ Humanitarian Engineering Club, and plays on the Club Baseball Team. This past summer, Brian interned at Suburban Consulting Engineers in Flanders, NJ where he worked on several projects in the Gas Utility and Site Development Departments. He has also interned with Geo-Technology Associates in Somerset, NJ as a third-party geotechnical engineering inspector on multiple sites in NJ and PA.

For this project, Brian will be responsible for redesigning the Lower Meadow at Camp Johnsonburg. Brian will ensure the space can maintain its current recreational use and also improve the drainage in this area.

Dr. Michael Horst (Faculty Advisor)

Dr. Horst is the Chair of the Civil Engineering department at TCNJ.  He studied at Pennsylvania State University, where he earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Water Resources).
